Thanks to those who came out for the shows on our recent tour. This one was particularly rough for us, lots of cancelations and/or reschedules right up until the last minute. Luckily, our trusty van made the trip without a whimper and we all made it safe and sound back home.
Things are changing for us. Stew has opted to part ways with the band after three and a half years as CB's founding drummer. We wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors. Chief Beef will continue on, but in what capacity remains to be seen.

Tour - forthcoming. Check out our dates in the shows section. Please note the Austin date is no longer at Hole in the Wall. It will be either at the Tiniest Bar in Texas or at the Music Gym, we'll update as soon as we know which venue and what time.
EP - Out. Released officially on Saturday. Stream it in the media seciton, buy it at our shows. It'll be available for purchase online soon, but first, we are going to tour.
If you have been putting off coming to a Chief Beef show, now is the time to do it. Don't say I didn't warn you.

We were booked to play a new Halloween themed bar/venue called the Haunted Castle on Feb 23rd, and have been working tirelessly to have our new EP ready for you at that show. However, the venue closed unexpectedly due to liquor license issues with the City of Tempe. The show has been postponed until we can find a venue and date open. This makes our next show our TOUR KICKOFF at the Last Exit on March 6th. It'll be our first time there and we're very much looking forward to it!
But yes! The EP is almost ready. As I type this, it is on its way back from mastering. Artwork design was completed this weekend. If all goes well, will be at the manufacturer by the end of the week and in our hands by the following weekend.
With a new release, it's time for a tour. Check out the shows section - March shows abound in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Texas.
PS: New press photos and one sheet posted in the Press section for your enjoyment.
UPDATE 2/15 - the EP CD release show is now 3/1 at Club Mardi Gras. This will be our first ever show in Scottsdale. Bringing some ROCK to the dance club scene.

Another pair of fun shows this past weekend. Thanks again to the Hollywood Alley and the Hotel Monte Vista Cocktail Lounge for having us out, and thanks to those who attended the shows. Those are two of our favorite venues to play.
No rest for the wicked... Hey, you got plans for the Super Bowl? Being Redskins fans (well, two out of three of us) we're looking forward to the Patriots pounding the crap out of the Giants. Aside from the Redskins, we like whoever is playing their division rivals (Giants, Cowboys, or Eagles). Oh, and hey, did I mention you can watch the game, eat some good food, tailgate with your friends and see a good rock show all in one place? That's our next show at Modified Arts on Feb 3rd. The amazing Roman Numerals from Kansas City will also be gracing the stage. Hope to see you there.

Farewell to the Paper Heart. Phoenix will not be the same without a venue like that. We are honored to have been given the opportunity to close out the show and send it off in a good rock fashion.
We've got more good shows coming up, including several in the Phoenix area for you locals who need a good hot Beef injection. Check out the Shows page for dates and details.
12/17/07
We have been added to the Paper Heart's Last Show on December 29th. Be there when the Heart stops. CB has played the Paper Heart several times, and many other times in our previous bands. Scott has always been awesome to us. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. For details about the show, click on the flyer below.
Thanks again to all the folks up in Prescott AZ who helped make our trip up there a blast this past weekend. We have a good time in your town, but wouldn't have if you weren't there!
Also, check out the shows section. We've added a huge amount of dates through March of 2008.

Our upcoming EP has been tracked for the most part. We scheduled five days to record six songs of instruments with Jamie Woolford at Room Sound Studios, and planned to do vocals later. We were ahead of schedule, able to record all the instruments, extra percussion, and three songs worth of vocals in the five allotted days. Just a few quick vocal sessions left and we'll be fully tracked and ready for mixdown.
But that's not all our news... we have upcoming shows! December 18th in Prescott, AZ, with a couple January dates in Mesa and Flagstaff. See you there?

The show at Modified Arts last night was pretty incredible. Once again, the Invincible Czars schooled us in the ways of musicianship and creativity. Those guys are amazing and if you haven't already, check them out!
What's next for the Beef? We're recording an EP with Jamie Woolford at Room Sound Studios in November with release anticipated for early in the new year. Jamie has recorded some pretty incredible sounding projects including the Worser EP of which we're big fans. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some hot new beef tunes and shows.

Back from the Gravy Tour, we are taking a couple weeks off to decompress and get our lives back in order. We learned that touring is a hell of a lot of fun and games, and also a hell of a lot of work. Special thanks goes out to all the bands we played with, the clubs who took a chance and booked us, and most of all, the people who checked out our humble Arizona rock band. We took a thousand pictures and hours upon hours of video, so keep checking back for new Beef media as we go through and pick out the best of the bunches for your viewing pleasure. For detailed day to day accounts of our travels, check out our Myspace Blogs.
No rest for the wicked... We've got a Phoenix show, our first local appearance in five months on October 11th at Modified Arts. We're playing with the Incinvcible Czars, who are by far one of the most musically creative bands I have ever seen. They hooked us up in Austin with the best show of our tour, and we'd like to return the favor. We can't do that without you, our local fans and friends, coming out to see us. This may also be our last show for the rest of the year - November brings time in the studio for our next release and December is usually occupied with friends, family and loved ones to celebrate the holidays.

Thank you very much to everyone who came out for the Tucson, Las Cruces, Albuquerque and Flagstaff shows this past week. This was a successful trip for us, speeding tickets aside. Audience reactions were more than positive and we appreciate all the support (and merchandise purchases!). It was a blast to be on the road with our friends in Emperors of Japan again. If you haven't checked them out yet, go here. They played a bunch of new stuff off their soon to be recorded album and it kicks much ass.
Next up for us is a Midwest/Texas tour. The dates and cities are posted, and with luck we'll have a final list of venues in the next few weeks. If you live in these cities and want to help us out, we can use places to stay as many nights as possible. Please contact us at chiefbeef@gmail.com.

We're gearing up for some traveling this summer. Not only do we have a repeat of our January Tucson/Las Cruces/Albuquerque/Flagstaff loop we did with the Emperors of Japan, we're working on some travels which carry us further from our Phoenix homes. Hopefully we'll be in your town before you know it. Keep checking back for dates.
Simultaneously, as we have time we're working on some new material. The goal is to have a second release, an EP, done by the end of the year. Our recent shows have included some of this new material and given your response, we think we're on the right track. Thanks for the positive feedback, friends.

Not much news here. Except for the rock about to be brought forth on Prescott, Lake Havasu City and Flagstaff, Arizona. Check the shows section for details.
We appreciate the effort put forth by Donald and Mig for the second annual Bands on Grand.
Update 5/22: We have received word that Havasu Underground has closed its doors for business. Sadly, this means we will not be playing June 1st in Lake Havasu City. If anyone receives word of another venue in the area looking for good original rock, let us know, because we know there are people in the area looking for good original rock. We heart Havasu and would like to play there again

SLEW OF SHOWS POSTED, check it out! You might notice there's not a whole hell of a lot of stuff local to Phoenix. We're intentionally limiting our local appearances in order to give ourselves more of an opportunity to travel.
We played for the first time at Yucca tap Room in Tempe on April 13th. It was a blast! Kudos to Stereotyperider for putting together an amazing lineup for the evening.
Bands on Grand - our slot for this night of musicus festivalus is currently set for 10:40 PM at the Phix. Come check it out, and be sure to make as many of the great bands as possible. Even though it was about 35 degrees and raining last year, we had a great time. Should be even better this year, being in May instead of February. We should also be debuting another new song that night.

Things are going well for us here in Beefland. We just played Prescott AZ for the first time and had a blast! Thank you to everyone who came out to the show. We made some new friends and some new fans. Emperors of Japan rocked it up as usual. We returned profitable.
So, yes! We have shows coming up! We're hitting Tempe for the first time since our CD release, it'll be our first ever show at The Yucca Tap Room. The flyer has Seven Storey Mountain listed as the headliners, but I'm told they are not playing now. That show will be followed up by a May appearance in Phoenix at the Bands on Grand 2007 music fesitval. Go here for details as they become available. Of course, June and July see some regional road trips, including our rescheduled New Mexico jaunt.
Finally our biggest news, Chief Beef has been vanned. We now have a van in the family and have van, will travel. The Prescott show this past weekend was its inaugural run, and it performed swimmingly. We couldn't be happier. Something is in the air... it smells like beef... and it might just be expanding from the southwest to YOUR town. No more excuses.
UPDATE 3.20 - New videos posted in the media section, live from our CD release show October 13, 2006. Special thanks to Shawn and crew from Artistic Video Design who produced these fine works. Now you can get live beef, on demand.
3/5/07
Well, sometimes you gotta know when to call it quits. Whoa! Hey, no we haven't broken up! But we did have to call off our most recent plans to head back to the great state of New Mexico. We had a show booked and confirmed at the Atomic Cantina in Albuquerque, but none of the other shows we were trying to book around that one came through. We just don't have the resources to drive seven or eight hours each way for a show and get maybe $50-75 out of the deal.
But rest assured, we will be back out that way. We are rescheduling the trip for July, and with some luck this will happen then. Hopefully we will have found a van to get us there, too. Got some leads going on that...
In the mean time, check out some local happenings, a couple shows confirmed at local places. Also, Bands on Grand 2007!! Keep your eyes peeled. We're still balancing writing and playing shows. New songs are constantly in the works.

Back from our short tour around AZ and NM. What a blast!! Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. We were pretty excited that you were so excited about us. It was really awesome to get out on the road, to play cities we haven't played before, and get the reactions we got (pretty much all positive). Also welcome was the snow which was so persistent everywhere except Tucson. We got some great landscape shots of snow covered deserts.
No rest for the wicked! We've got another couple of shows in February, both at Casa Blanca, a new venue on Van Buren in Phoenix. Come out if you can! First Fridays are always fun, and inject some hot Beef into the mix and you've got yourself a party.
As we have time, we'll get a tour diary up with some great photos.
Quick update 2/15/07 - A slew of new shows have been added to the calendar, including more road shows in Prescott AZ and New Mexico. Some of the dates are still tentative but we're confident most of them will come through.
12/18/06
Check out our awesome new flyer designed by our good friend Jeff at Awesometown. Well, most of it is awesome, the crappy black Ariel lettering in the white box was put there by me. Our tour is booked for the most part. Four confirmed dates in four days in two states, with the possibility of a fifth show in the Las Cruces area on Thursday, Jan 25th. We'd like to thank our friends in Emperors of Japan for doing most of the work getting these shows through their New Mexican contacts, and our new friends in Early Black from Tucson for setting up the show there.
So yeah, be sure to tell your friends in these far away places about our tour! As for local Phoenix stuff, looks like our next show will be on the first Friday of February at Casa Blanca on Grand Ave in Phoenix.
From our family of Beef lovers to yours, have a happy and safe holiday season. Don't drive drunk - the cops don't like that very much.
11/28/06
Updates are good, yes? It's been about a month, and we've been working on new material and overeating and overdrinking and overbeing merry for the holidays. Hope you've been all those things as well. Happy December to you. I welcome the colder air. The summers in Phoenix are brutal and the only way to deal with it is to be here in the winter as well.
We've got a show coming up at Modified Arts with some really good bands. There's a chance we may do a similar lineup at a house show in Tucson the next night... just a chance. We're leaving our options open in case the forecast calls for 100% Beef in Tucson action. Yeah, so if you're in phoenix on Friday the 8th, come by Modified.
Also, if you know anyone in Tucson, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, or Flagstaff, tell them to come see us on our upcoming brief tour with Emperors of Japan. Details will be posted as we know more in the shows section.
10/31/06
Well, we'd like to thank everyone who came to the recent string of shows. I think we did six shows between September 22 through October 26th. We made some new friends along the way and had some great times.
So, what's up with the Beef? Well, the majority of this year has been tied up with Something About Rock, which has been really cool of course. So much work, and man, was it a lot of work. But now we face the music, pun intended, and realize we haven't completed a new song since April. The focus has been entirely on what we already had. While we're still all about promoting the new record, we have the opportunity to work on new music with a break from shows for a little bit. We're crazy, but we're not stopping now that SAR is out. We have a goal to record and release an EP as soon as we can. Gotta get writing.
Also, you may notice there's quite a bit more here than there was when we launched this new site back in late June. Check back often and see what happens as the site continues to evolve.

Show just added: October 26th (Thursday) at the Paper Heart with our new friends in Emperors of Japan.

Don't forget our CD release is coming up tomorrow, October 13th at the Hollywood Alley. You must be there. Traindodge? Dropsonic? Oh yeah. Also, check us out as we make the rounds around AZ-land, with shows in Lake Havasu City and Flagstaff coming up next weekend, October 20th and 21st.
09/20/06
Oh yeah!!! We've got some really good shows booked. Keep checking out the site for updates. Quite a few coming up around town including one this Friday! CDs should be in soon. All the work is done and they're off at the manufacturer being, um, manufactured. The title is "Something About Rock" and the artwork features photography by our own Stewart Alaniz.
08/03/06
Check out some updates to the shows section, we added another coming up in just over a week. We're always stoked to do Shizz Second Saturday, and to share the stage with the likes of the Necronauts and Seven Storey, we're very happy about playing. Come out and support an amazing display of local talent.
Album is coming together still. We remixed a few songs the other day back at Mind's Eye, and they sound better to us. Work continues. We posted some samples at our myspace page, myspace.com/chiefbeef.
07/18/06
So, we're done recording. Putting an album together is a lot of work, and while laying down the tracks is a big chunk of that, there is still much to be done before we can get it released. We'll let you know when it's ready.
Currently we have one show scheduled, an amazing display of rock power featuring Traindodge and Dropsonic. Oh, man. Now I have to go change my pants.
06/23/06
We're in the studio from June 24 - July 2. We are recording our first full length album with Larry Elyea @
Minds Eye. The whole band is super excited and we've been
practicing our cahonies off. I can't imagine being more prepared than we are.
Come check us out at "Batter the Drag's last show ever!" it's this Friday, June 30th @ 9PM.
